Last month Team Weir organized a food drive for the local Share and Care Food Bank.  Many thanks to all who contributed, particularly the residents of Brookshire Meadows in Trenton and Forest Ridge in Frankford.  All donations were matched by Team Weir!

Team Weir Donates to Local Women's Shelter

Team Weir, longstanding supporters of the local Three Oaks Women’s Shelter, donates a much needed new computer and television to the women and children utilizing the shelter. French Bistro Coming to Trenton

There will be tapas on tap in Trenton soon.

The French bistro, bakery and gourmet shop L’Auberge de France, which opened its doors in downtown Belleville in January 2008, is expanding its culinary horizon to Quinte West. It will have a 30-person capacity and will serve sandwiches, soups and salads for lunch and fresh baked croissants (Saturday mornings), breads and other pastries.

Reserve Your Slip!

This time next year there will be hundreds of boats tied up at the Trent Port Marina.  Last week, the mayor of Quinte West, John Williams, and other local dignitaries turned the soil on this $12 million project.  See Ernst Kuglin's article for the whole story.

Promoting The Bay of Quinte Region

For those of you who are not aware, I'm involved in a volunteer organization to help promote the beautiful Bay of Quinte Region. Our goal is to build the branding of this region so anyone who is thinking of relocating to or vacationing in Quinte will easily recognize where we are and what we offer.

New Marina for the City of Quinte West!

A new marina in Quinte West, the Trent Port Marina, is set to open in 2015!

The 380-slip marina, with 56 transient slips and 324 seasonal slips will service boaters on the Bay of Quinte and down the Trent-Severn Waterway system.

The heart of the marina will be the 550 square metre Marina Building.  The state-of-the art building will offer boater washrooms, laundry, lounge, a public gathering hall and covered external patios.

CMHC Raises Insurance Premiums

Canada’s national housing agency has increased the cost of insuring mortgages for homebuyers who make down payments of less than 20%. Starting in May, homebuyers will pay an average of about 15% more for mortgage insurance.

Fact: On a $200,000 mortgage, this will increase the premium by $800.
Fact: If you have an accepted Offer to Purchase in place by May 1st and are closing within 120 of that date, you can avoid the increase in premiums.

Home Inpectors

One of the most common questions I get asked about Home Inspectors here in Trenton is … 'are they licensed and do they have Errors and Omissions Insurance?' To date, British Columbia, Alberta, and Saskatchewan are the only provinces that license inspectors but this going to change in Ontario very soon. Stay tuned!
